IGPP bids farewell to Director Bob Parker, names Cathy Constable new Director

Bob Parker, director of Scripps's Institute of Geophysics and Planetary Physics (IGPP) since 2002, has announced his retirement. He will continue to serve as IGPP deputy director.

Cathy Constable will serve as the new director of IGPP, effective July 1. Cathy's research emphasizes the development of techniques and models that depict Earth's current and past magnetic field and are used to study the influence of deep Earth processes on the magnetic field as well as interactions between the field and Earth's external environment. Cathy also serves as the SIO Section Head for GEO and will continue in this role.
