Science publishes Fan and Shearer's large quake aftershock discoveries

Congratulations to IGPP's Wenyuan Fan and Peter M. Shearer, whose large earthquake aftershock research paper titled "Local near instantaneously dynamically triggered aftershocks of large earthquakes" appears in the 9 September 2016 issue of Science. 

Aaron Patents OBS Fresh Water Release System

Tasked with supporting earthquake fault mapping study in a freshwater lake, IGPP development technician Ernie Aaron created a new release system for the ocean-bottom seismometers—that allows them to operate without seawater—and earned a patent in the process.

Bock, SOPAC featured in new book on GPS

Greg Milner's recently published book "Pinpoint – How GPS is Changing Technology, Culture and Our Minds" features the work of IGPP's Director of Scripps Orbit and Permanent Array Center (SOPAC), Yehuda Bock. Chapter 8 discusses the role of GPS in the Earth Sciences. Milner highlights Bock's research in GPS continuous networks for crustal deformation, seismogeodesy, and structural monitoring. The book is written for a popular audience and available on Amazon

S Constable Receives 2016 AGU Fellow Honor
