Green Foundation Postdoctoral Appointments in Geophysics
The Institute of Geophysics and Planetary Physics (IGPP) at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, University of California San Diego, has openings starting in 2025 for at least one postdoctoral Green Scholar.
For this special, out-of-cycle, recruitment, an applicant must have received their PhD later than January 1, 2024, or expect to receive it no later than than October 1, 2025. The appointment cannot start until after the award of the PhD. The applicant will be expected to be in La Jolla concurrently with the period of appointment.
We seek individuals who show evidence of producing, and continuing to produce, research in geophysics that is of the highest quality. For this recruitment special attention will also be paid to applicants who have lost promised support because of shifts in federal funding.
These positions are supported by funding from the Green Foundation for Earth Sciences, matched with extramural funds for specific research projects. Before submitting an application, applicants should contact potential IGPP mentors to find out if they have a suitable project. Green scholars are encouraged to broaden their experience through interaction with other researchers at IGPP; individual research goals may be pursued if project progress can be maintained.
