Peter Worcester, Matt Dzieciuch, collaborators share findings from long-range underwater navigation system that uses measured acoustic travel times from a constellation of acoustic sources was tested using data from the 2010-2011 North Pacific Acoustic Laboratory (NPAL) Philippine Sea experiment sponsored by the U.S. Office of Naval Research. The system provides an undersea positioning capability that is analogous to that provided on land and in the air by the satellite-based Global Positioning System (GPS).
